Method for guiding a rocket (1) to a target, wherein, the rocket (1) being equipped with automatic guiding means with an image-formation device (10) and means for correction of the trajectory (11): the target is acquired by a sighting device and its position is determined; the sighting device and the rocket image-formation device (10) are brought into line; the images of the rocket image-formation device (10) are stabilized; a guiding law is produced; the rocket (1) is launched; and the rocket is guided according to this law until the rocket itself acquires the target.
