A surface-mounted fuselage skin applique panel having an aperture to a reference static air input port is rugged, replaceable, and independently calibratable. The static port skin applique generally conforms to the fuselage surface, and is held in place either with adhesive or with a mounting frame. The applique size enables airflow in the vicinity of the static port to be substantially uniform. Because the applique is not part of the fuselage structure, distorting stress loads are avoided. The applique material resists scratches and bumps that can distort flow. A static port skin applique and its mounting provisions can be made using a range of materials, and can receive finishes to meet user preferences.
